Anne Hildenbrand

ABOUT THE POET

Anne Hildenbrand was born May 1, 1900, married in 1932, and widowed in 1957. She attended Bryn Mawr College, receiving her B.A. in 1922, her M.A. in 1923, M.S.S. in 1946. Anne also received an M.A. in the Science of Creative Intelligence  from Maharishi International University in 1986.
Over the years her travels took her to many parts of the globe, including a trip around the world in 1963. On New Year’s Eve, 1960, she was in Havana when Cubans began celebrating the success of Castro’s revolution. She reported that her ship weighed anchor a few hours ahead of schedule and pulled out of the harbor to the accompaniment of rifle fire from the rooftops.
Anne was a Minister of the Age of Enlightenment and made numerous trips to Switzerland to study with His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
One year shy of becoming a centenarian, she passed away in 1999 in Fairfield. She published two books: Sonnets to Soma and Sonnets to Iowa.
